As Manager, Community Resources, Susan is responsible for JABA’s Information and Assistance, Virginia Insurance Counseling & Assistance Program (VICAP) and Financial Services programs such as reverse mortgage counseling. She and her staff serve seniors, people with disabilities, caregivers, professionals and other community members, providing information, resource materials, counseling and referrals to appropriate programs and services. Susan’s duties also include community outreach, collaboration with other service providers, staff management, planning and administration. She has been affiliated with JABA for four and a half years.

Susan brings almost thirty years of experience in the health and aging fields to her position, including five years providing community outreach for SeniorNavigator, a statewide non-profit with a resource clearinghouse serving seniors, their families and professionals throughout Virginia. Prior to that, she was Executive Director of FOCUS Women’s Resource Center, a non-profit, community-based organization in Charlottesville, and worked for several Washington, DC organizations including the Washington Business Group on Health, the National Women’s Health Network, and Public Voice for Food and Health Policy.

Susan is a Certified Senior Advisor (CSA), a Certified Information and Referral Specialist in Aging (CIRS-A) and has completed Virginia’s Options Counseling Standards Training. She serves as JABA’s representative to the Aging in Place Business Roundtable and the Disability Services Board. Her health promotion work has been recognized by the C. Everett Koop National Health Award, American Public Health Association, and US Office of Minority Health.
