Krystle Myer

Krystle Myer smaller pic FIRESIDE CHAT NOVEMBER & TV Show 10.10.13 Krystle was raised in the Financial Services industry. Her mother was the founder of a successful consulting firm on Wall Street. She has many memories of napping on the couch in her mother’s office at 14 Wall Street. She grew up in North Brunswick, New Jersey, and attended Stuart Country Day School of the Sacred Heart from grades Kindergarten through 12th grade. At Stuart, Krystle began her lifelong connection and commitment to women friends and colleagues. Being raised in a female-centric household (she was raised by her Mother and Grandmother exclusively), Krystle attended an all-girls school prior to college. Being surrounded by and supporting women has always been, and continues to be, a natural part of Krystle’s life.

Krystle attended New York University, where she graduated with honors with a Bachelors degree in Journalism and a minor in Gender and Sexuality Studies. She initially considered a career as an attorney, and subsequently worked in the legal field. She then decided to follow in her mother’s footsteps. She worked at a hedge fund assisting the Chief Operating Officer, a professor of economics at Princeton University who worked alongside Ben Bernanke. Desiring a change of scenery, she moved with her husband, Tim, and their 4-year old son, Kaiden, to Charlottesville, at which point Krystle transitioned into a career as a Financial Advisor with Merrill Lynch.
Krystle’s decision to become a Financial Advisor was motivated by her desire to help people achieve financial health. She assists clients as they define a purpose for their money based on their personal values. She then encourages intelligent financial choices – using money to provide for one’s needs vs. their wants. Ultimately she aims to prepare people for a financially secure, dignified and independent lifestyle in retirement. Krystle’s value as an Advisor is an extension of her values as an individual – she incorporates standards such as honesty, empathy and an appreciation of diversity into her business. Additionally, Krystle is spending time becoming proficient in Sustainable and Responsible Investing. During her initial studies, she was bothered by the fact that economic growth was synonymous with excessive consumption of the environment. By investing in companies that are environmentally conscious and/or that create technologies to further resource conservation and sustainability, she is able to invest while encouraging others to make responsible choices.

Krystle’s other ongoing interests include meditation and integrative medicine. She spent years practicing Buddhism independently by meditating, practicing introspective writing and reading books by authors such as Lama Surya Das, Sharon Salzberg, Thich Nhat Hanh, Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche, Sogyal Rinpoche and more. She also incorporates holistic medicine into her life through the use of herbal supplements, acupuncture, essential oils and meditation.

Finally, as an adoptee from Brazil, she hopes to someday work with other adoptees – either through support groups or possibly writing a book about using meditation (particularly meditations focused on generating compassion) as a means to heal the suffering that many adoptees experience.

She lives in Lake Monticello with her family, where she starts each day with a smile and the resolve to have a happy day.
